UTICA — The Utica Blue Sox scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings and defeated the Watertown Rapids, 4-3, in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Sunday at Murnane Field at Donovan Stadium.

Jerry Reinhart ripped an RBI triple, and Colton Bender supplied an RBI groundout for Utica (2-1). Cameron Phelts and Coco Hussein each supplied a pair of hits, while Joey Preciado picked up the win, pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Josh Gosweiler worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save for Utica, which is tied for first place in the Central Division with Watertown (2-1).

Daniel Little slapped a two-run single and Nolan Wilson drove in a run with a single for Watertown. Xavier Czepiel was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs and five hits in 3 2/3 innings for the Rapids.

Watertown scored all three runs in the seventh inning and gave up only one hit after the fifth inning thanks to relievers Jarret Henderson and Wandy Brito.

The Rapids put the tying run in scoring position after Michael Russell reached second base because of a Blue Sox error. Gosweiler got Josh Bozoian to ground out to end the game.

Watertown is off today, while Utica plays an exhibition game against the Capital District Reds. The Rapids host the Blue Sox at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
