CANTON — Closing statements in the rape trial of Joseph J. Breault are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. today.

Breault, 63, of 30 Daily Road, is charged with three counts of first-degree rape and one count of predatory sexual assault, all felonies, and is accused of a 1996 forcible rape of a then 10-year-old girl and, in the summer of 2008, forcibly raping a then 35-year-old woman. He is accused of forcibly raping that same woman a second time in the summer of 2009 or 2010.

According to the indictment, the charge of predatory sexual assault stems from the alleged 2008 rape resulting in the first-degree rape charge happening after the alleged 1996 rape.

Defense attorney Edward F. Narrow rested his case Wednesday afternoon following two days of witnesses testifying in Breault’s favor.
