The National Weather Service said Watertown broke the Sept. 26 temperature record, based on its measurements.

The service’s Buffalo office said Watertown hit 84 degrees Fahrenheit, breaking the previous record of 82 degrees that was set in 1970.

Several records were set around the state, forecasters said.

Buffalo reached 88, breaking the old record of 87 set back in 1959. Also, Rochester reached 91, breaking the old record of 89 set back in 1900.
