CANTON — Longtime Canton physician Sebastian A. Mazzotta, M.D., closed his medical practice at 4 Stillman Drive on Friday.
Dr. Mazzotta was on staff at both Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Rebecca, J. Faber, director of corporate communications at Canton-Potsdam Hospital confirmed Friday that the medical administration office had received a letter stating Dr. Mazzotta’s practice was closing immediately.
She said Canton-Potsdam Hospital currently has four gastroenterology specialists serving the region: Luis Canales, M.D., Linda Letham, N.P., David Nevins, P.A., and Rajiv Shah, M.D., and that the hospital is actively recruiting for an additional physician specialist.
Laura C. Shea, executive director of community relations and planning at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, said the hospital has a new gastroenterologist, Dr. Ahmad Kadhim, who came on board in July and is accepting new patients.
