BURKE –– A single-family home on county Route 36 sustained smoke, water and heat damage in a fire that broke out around 11:20 a.m. Saturday.
Flames were coming from the southwest corner of the upper floor of the two-story home when firefighters arrived, according to a report from Burke Fire Chief Eugene Nesbitt.
Fire crews were able to enter the building and contain the blaze to the upstairs of the home. No injuries were reported.
Because of the rural nature of the fire scene, crews were forced to draw water from a source on Montgomery Road, Mr. Nesbitt said.
Crews used about 8,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters from Burke, Chateaugay, Malone and Constable spent roughly four hours on the scene. County Route 35 was closed for more than three hours.
