EVANS MILLS — State police continue to ask for additional information that might be helpful in the shooting death of Tyler Johnson in May, even with the arrest on Friday of a second man in his murder.
State police announced Friday the arrest of Sammy L. Brown, 25, of 608 Philadelphia Courts, Philadelphia on a charge of second-degree murder.
The arrest stems from the home invasion shooting of Tyler Johnson on May 18 in his home in Pamelia.
State police spokesman Jack Keller stressed the case remains an active investigation.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help.
“People may remember the smallest of things and it could be helpful,” he said.
On July 6, Jamaal K. Carr, 26, was arrested on a second-degree murder charge for allegedly shooting Mr. Johnson.
Brown was arraigned in Pamelia Town Court where he was remanded to the Metro-Jefferson County Public Safety Building without bail.
The arrest comes at the same time local investigators are reeling from the killing of one of their own,Trooper Joel R. Davis, who was shot to death while responding to a domestic incident in Theresa on Sunday night.
The same investigators involved in the investigation in the trooper’s death remained investigating Mr. Johnson’s murder. That case remained a high priority for the members of the major crimes unit in Watertown, trooper Keller said.
“These guys are dedicated in solving that case as they were in trying to deal with his death,” he said.
