LISBON — For a second game an NAC West Boys Basketball opponent derailed a fast start by Lisbon.

On Wednesday an emerging Hermon-DeKalb squad erased a 15-5 first quarter deficit and methodically fashioned a 51-39 win over the Golden Knights.

Hermon-DeKalb (6-5, 3-2) rallied to beat the Golden Knights behind balanced scoring and an impact interior defensive performance by Garrett Willard.

“We got off to a great start and we executed pretty well for much of the game. But Garrett Willard must have had a dozen blocked shots for them. Alex Denesha and Brandon Eggleston each scored six points for them in the third quarter and that was big” said Lisbon Coach Sean Backus.

“We need to get things turned around. We are scheduled to play Hammond Saturday but the weather looks very iffy.”

Alex Denesha led the Demons with 14 points and Zach Denesha added 13. Garrett Willard scored 11 points and Brandon Eggleston tossed in 10. Josh O’Brien led Lisbon (6-6, 1-4) with 13 points and Adam Gravlin, Jackson LaRock and Karter Jordan followed with nine, eight and seven points.

Chamberlain also tallied seven steals and six assists while Abby McNamara added nine points on three 3-pointers and Katie Long grabbed 10 rebounds and netted four points.

Morgan Thomas led the Bulldogs (4-3, 2-2) with seven points.
