WATERTOWN — The group of local investors who plan to build a $24 million sports complex have postponed the conference about it they originally planned to host this month.

Town Supervisor Joel R. Bartlett said the firm that the group hired to study the feasibility of the sports complex, Venue Strategies, New York, has been working on another project abroad and will not return until July.

The unidentified group wants to open the proposed 177,000-square-foot facility for football, basketball, other indoor sports games, concerts, trade shows, traveling acts and other performances that could draw crowds from as far as Ontario and Syracuse.

The arena, which will be built at an unidentified location, will also have three soccer and lacrosse fields and enough parking for about 3,000 vehicles.
