HAMMOND — The Black Lake Challenge ice fishing derby, originally set today, has been postponed due to a bad-weather forecast, organizer Joe Parker said. It’s rescheduled for 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan 20 at the Fish Creek Bait and Tackle Shop, 7659 State Route 58.

“We don’t want to get people out on the roads and on the ice in the terrible conditions we will have,” Mr. Parker said.

Half of the proceeds of the event will go to prizes and the rest will be split between the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization that supports the needs of veterans injured in combat.

For more information, call Mr. Parker at 315-323-6888 or 315-323-6842.

The tournament is family-friendly and open to both adults and accompanied children.
